At 19, George started a music career in Rock n' Roll. He cut a demo record with Venus on one side and Don't Ask Me Why on the flip side. He auditioned in New York City for two different record companies but was encouraged to push aside his manager. This did not feel right to George and he walked away. He then sang at Record Hops in the Northeast until he had to make a choice between singing career or playing University Basketball . George made the decision to put his singing career aside. Then, in Austin, Texas in 1992 he was encouraged to cut an album of some of his favorite songs from the past by a close friend and popular Austin band leader and singer, Doug Robb. The Man Of Velvet And Steel is the result of that effort. 0n this album, you will hear such classics as Don't Be Cruel, Mabelline, Flip, Flop & Fly, Blue Berry Hill, Today I Started Loving You Again, Ramblin' Fever, My Way, plus a piano piece by George, called Zal's Boogie.
